Intellectual Property

The latest UK Copyright and Related Rights legislation (CRRR 2003) can be accessed in full at http://www.legislation.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2003/20032498.htm. This legislation came into effect on October 31st last. The CRRR amends the country's main copyright law -- the Copyright Designs and Patent Act 1988 -- and implements the European Union Copyright Directive (EUCD). The EUCD was enacted in 2001 to bring the European Union's copyright law into compliance with the WIPO Internet treaties, the WIPO Copyright Treaty (WCT) and the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT). For IP Justice's take on this legislation, see http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/dmca-activists/2003-11/msg00008.html.
